Q: Where do I obtain a police or accident report?
A: Accident reports may be obtained by visiting the Lebanon Police Department during normal business hours (8 a.m.- 4 p.m., M-F) or sending for a copy. There is a $5 fee for accident reports. Reports WILL NOT be faxed! Criminal reports are released on a per-case basis. Contact the Police department during normal business hours for more information.
Q: How do I renew my gun permit?
A: If you live within the city limits of Lebanon, come to the Lebanon Police Department during normal business hours (8-4, M-F) and submit your name, DOB and Social Security information for a criminal history check. This verification can take up to a week but is often faster. It is recommended to call LPD before returning to verify that your records check has been completed. Once completed locally, the application is submitted to the Indiana State Police for processing. This processing could take several weeks. DO NOT CARRY A HANDGUN ON AN EXPIRED PERMIT! An application for a handgun permit is NOT a firearms permit!

Q: What is the Deferral Program and how does it work?
A: The Indiana Legislature has authorized a prosecution deferral program in ordinance violation cases. This program is offered by the City of Lebanon as an option in lieu of paying standard court costs and fines for first time traffic ordinance violations. If you enter the deferral program you will not be required to appear in court, however, yoursigned contract and fee must be received before your court date. If you enter the program and comply with the contractual agreement, the charge against you will be dismissed after a period of six (6) months. If you choose to enter the Deferral Program you will buy the contract instead of paying the court costs and fine. The cost of the contract will not be refunded for any reason.
NOTE: You MAY NOT participate in the deferral program if you hold a Commercial Driver’s License
Q: How can the Deferral Program benefit me?
A: By sucessfully completing the Deferral Program your violation will be dismissed. The defered violation will not show up on your record for insurance purposes, or in the case of CDL drivers for licensing or hiring consideration.
Q: What is the fee for the Deferral Program?
A: The total Fee for the Deferral Program is $181.50. This is broken down as follows:
- $81.50 Court cost
- $100.00 user fee for the first month
You may pay this fee with a cashiers check or money order. No cash or personal checks will be accepted.
Q: Where do I send my contract form and fee?
A: You may send your contract form and fee to: Lebanon City Court, 401 S. Meridian St., Room 212, Lebanon, IN 46052. Your contract and fee payment must be received by the appearance date on your citation.
Q: How do I get more information on the Deferral Program?
A: When you are given an ordinance violation citation you will normally be given a deferal packet by the Issuing officer. If for some reason he does not give you a packet you can pick one up between the hours of 8:00AM and 4:00PM, weekdays, at the Lebanon Police Department, 201 E. Main St., Lebanon, IN 46052.
Q: Do I have to wear a seatbelt in my pickup truck?
A: Yes
Q: Where can I drive a go cart in Lebanon?
A: Generally, go carts do not have the safety requirements to be properly registered by the Bureau of Motor vehicles, therefore, it is illegal to operate them on any sate highway or city street or alley. You may not operate a go cart on the sidewalks. You can operate a go cart on private property if you have the consent of the owner of the property.
Q: When can I ride a snowmobile in Lebanon?
A: When there is three (3) inches of snow cover on the ground you may drive snowmobiles inside the corporate limits of Lebanon.

A: Snow mobiles may be driven on private property with consent of the owner, as well as the following streets:
- West Camp St. from Lafayette Ave. to Garfield St. to Essex St. to Ulen Dr.
- Chicago St. from Lafayette Ave. east to Clark St.
- North East St. from Ulen Dr. to Fordice St.
- Elizaville Rd. to John Bart Rd.
- Elm Swamp Rd. to John Bart Rd.
- Elm Swamp Rd. from Elizaville Rd. north to the city limits
- Fordice St. From Meridian St. to John Bart Rd.
- Glendale North to Fordice Rd.
- Grant Blvd. north from Elizaville Rd.
- Grant St. from Ulen Dr. south to Indianapolis Ave.
- Indianapolis Ave. from east Main St. southeast to city limits
- Lafayette Ave. north to the interstate

Q: Are there any other requirements to operate a snow mobile in Lebanon?
A: All snow mobiles must be covered by liability insurance and be registered with the Department of Natural Resources. Snow mobiles are required to operate with their headlight on at all times. Additionally, snowmobiles must fly a safety flag and obey all traffic signs and regulations.
Q: Can I fire a firearm within the city limits?
A: No. Virtually every item that shoots or throws a projectile is illegal to use under city ordinances. Examples include firearms, bows, BB guns or slingshots.
Q: What is the Curfew?
A: Curfew restrictions are as follows:
- Persons under the age of fifteen may not be in a public place between 11:00 PM and 5:00AM, any day of the week.
- Persons fifteen through seventeen may not be in a public place between 11:00 PM and 5:00AM, Sunday through Thursday. The curfew for Friday and Saturday is 1:00 AM.
Q: Are there any exceptions to the curfew law?
A: Yes, the restriction does not apply to:
- Children accompanied by a parent or guardian
- Children accompanied by an adult designated by a parent or guardian
- Lawful employment and travel to and from
- School sanctioned activities and travel to and from
- Religious activities and travel to and from
Q: Do I have to wear a helmet while riding a motorcycle?
A: Only if you are under the age of 18, then a helmet and eye protection is required.

Q: Do I have to register my moped?
A: Yes, you can do that at the Police Department between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Mon.-Fri.
Q: How old do I have to be to operate a moped?
A: Fifteen years old.
Q: What is considered a junked vehicle?
A: A junked vehicle is any vehicle in whole or in part that is inoperable, abandoned, wrecked, unassembled or unlicensed.
Q: How long do I have to move a junked vehicle on public property before the police tow it away?
A: After notice is given you have 3 days to remove a junked vehicle from public property before the police tow it away.
Q: Can the police tow my junked car if it is on private property?
A: Yes, after notice is given you have 10 days to remove a junked vehicle from private property before the police can tow it away.
