Lebanon Street Department
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: What day is my trash picked up?

A: You may contact us at the Street Department (482-8870), or you may look at the map on this website. You must have your trash out at the curb by 7 a.m. There is a 6-bag limit with 35 pounds per bag. Trash is picked up on all holidays except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. If Christmas Day falls on Thursday, Thursday’s trash route will be run on Friday; Friday’s route on Saturday.

Q: What are the recycling hours?

A: Recycling Center is located at the Street Department and is open Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and the 1st and 4th Saturdays of each month from 8 a.m. to noon.

Q: When are leaves going to be picked up?

A: Leaf pickup starts the third week in October and ends the first Friday in December. Leaves are picked up the same day as your trash (weather permitting). Leaves are to be raked to the curb and should not be mixed with limbs which can damage to vacuums.

Q: What do I do with limbs I have trimmed?

A: On small amounts, you may call us; and we will put you on a list and will pick up as soon as possible. If you cut down a tree or have a large amount of limbs, it is up to the property owner to dispose of.

Q: What about storm damage (wind damage)?

A: We will pick up downed limbs as soon as possible. The main arteries are completed first, then secondary streets, and then sub-divisions.

Q: I have a household item (couch, stove, etc.) to get rid of; what can I do with it?

A: We have a heavy trash day twice a year where city residents can bring household items they no longer want to the Street Department. The Spring Clean-up is held the last Friday and Saturday in April and the Fall Clean-up is held the first Friday and Saturday in October. Hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. No brush, tires, hazardous waste, paint, or roofing materials are accepted. You must bring proof of residency.

Q: What do I do with hazardous waste?

A: There are two Hazardous Waste Collection Days held each year in the county. One is held at the Street Department and the other is held in Zionsville at the Town Hall. Contact the Street Department 482-8870 or the Boone County Solid Waste District at 483-0687 for more information.

Q: What do I do with my Christmas tree?

A: Starting after Christmas, trees may be put at the curb. Please make sure all lights and ornaments are off. We will pick these up as soon as possible.
