We also have a crack-seal program in the spring and fall, and a blacktop program.

Description of Services

Maintenance of streets and alleys:

We maintain the streets by sweeping them and filling potholes most of the year, weather permitting. Each year, a few streets and alleys are repaved as needed.

Spring and Fall Clean-up:

These clean-ups give the city residents a chance to clean their property and get rid of household items they no longer want. Spring clean-up is the last Friday and Saturday of April, and the Fall clean-up is the first Friday and Saturday of October.

Small debris pickup:

We pick up small limbs that have fallen from trees during windstorms. Limbs must be put out at the curb to be picked up. (We do not remove trees from private properties.)

Small debris pickup

Leaf pickup:

Leaf pickup starts the third week in October and usually runs through Thanksgiving. Leaves must be raked to the curb. The leaves are picked up the same day as trash.

Snow Removal:

Streets are cleared by using a salt/sand mixture or plowed according to conditions. Main arteries are plowed first followed by secondary streets, then sub-divisions.

Animal Control:

Stray dogs and dead animals are picked up by the Street Department. Live cages (deposit required) are available for stray cats.

Curbside Recycling or Drop-Off:

Curbside recycling is available at a small cost. Beginning April 7, 2010, Ray's Trash

Service will be picking up recycling every other Wednesday. Any questions regarding curbside recycling should be directed to Ray's Trash Service at (800) 531-6752. A

drop-off site is available at the Street Department Monday thru Friday from 7:30am to

3:30pm and also the 1st and 4th Saturdays of each month from 8am to noon.
